Floor heating

Wood floors is considered to be very warm. However, in some cases, the floors in houses and apartments are so cold that foots are cold even with heating in operation. There is a need to use floor heating. In this case, the best choice would be the parquet floor. It is not whimsical, aesthetic, resistant to temperature effects, therefore its combination with a heating system is permissible. But here you need to take into account some of the nuances.

What to pay attention to

If you plan to install the parquet on the warm floor system, you need to pay attention to the choice of material. The following moments play a big role:
1. Used wood species. Oak and ash have minimal thermal expansion and are best combined with a floor heating system.

2. Board thickness. The optimal parameter is 12-15 mm. Wood has a low coefficient of thermal conductivity, so the panels will block the radiation from the heating elements. And the thicker the floor, the lower the heating efficiency.

3. Manufacturer recommendations. FocusFloor parquet is ideal to combine with system water heating, but it is also allowed to combine the parquet with floor heating based on electric system.

4. Installation method. Above the heating elements, only installing in a “floating way” is permitted, since this will avoid deformation when expanding wooden boards.

What floor heating will suitable?

When using any type of heating, the temperature of the floor covering should not exceed + 26C. At the same time it is necessary to ensure uniform heating of wooden boards. Otherwise, due to uneven expansion, they will be deformed.

There are 3 types of warm floors:

    • water;
    • infrared (film);
    • electric.

Using of a water system for FocusFloor parquet is considered optimal. In this case, the risk of fire is completely eliminated, heating and cooling occurs evenly and gradually, which reduces the risk of deformation of the floor. It is also acceptable to use infrared film or electrical options.
